  • What is Flo by Moen smart water shutoff device?

    The Flo by Moen smart water shutoff device is a leak detection and water monitoring device for your home. Installed on the main water supply line, one device help protects the entire home from water damage and leaks.

  • How does a customer set up their Flo by Moen smart water shutoff device?

    We recommend the customer download the Flo By Moen app on their smartphone and create an account. You can install the Flo by Moen app through the App Store or Google Play Store.

  • How does a customer pair their Flo by Moen smart water shutoff device to their app?

  • How does Flo by Moen smart water shutoff device detect Leaks?

    Once Flo by Moen smart water shutoff device is installed on the main water line coming into the home, it will go through what we call a “learning phase” for the first week of installation. During this phase, the pressure, temperature and flow rate sensors in the device will collect data about how water is used in the home. It will then use this data to understand how much water use is expected in the home. 

  • What is a Health Test?

    The Flo by Moen smart water shutoff device conducts a “Health Test” once a day to search for any drop in pressure within the entire plumbing system. If there is a steady drop in pressure while the valve is closed, you will be notified that you have a “Small Drip Detected”

  • How can you turn the water on or off from the app?

    You can view a video on how to urn your water on/off with the Flo by Moen app.

  • How can you turn the water off and on manually from the Flo by Moen smart water shutoff device?

    The manual shutoff is meant for emergencies only. In the event you are unable to use the Flo by Moen app, you may push down and turn the green knob a quarter turn to the left or right to the open or closed position. The valve status light will indicate a solid green LED when it is in the open position, and solid red when it is in the closed position.

  • How do I know if I can receive an insurance discount?

    Some insurance companies will allow for you to save money on your insurance premiums when you enroll in the WaterShield by FPL Home program. Contact your insurance provider to verify if you qualify for a home owner's insurance discount. You can obtain your monitoring certificate from the Flo by Moen user portal and send it to your insurance provider.

  • What do I do if I receive a false alert?

    Follow the prompts in-app to correctly identify the source of the water use. This will allow for your device to grow smarter and ensure that you receive fewer false alarms in the future.

  • What if my Wi-Fi stops working?

    Your device will continue to work even without connectivity to the internet. However, you will not receive an alert via the Flo by Moen app if a water event occurs. 

  • How do I file a claim for repair of my interior plumbing and what is covered?

    You can submit a claim 24 hours/7 days a week at www.4repairs.net or you may call 888-883-3957 during normal business hours (8am – 5 pm EST, m-f). For emergency repair – outside of normal business hours you can submitting an e-mail to urgent@fortegra.com.

    Your coverage will begin 30 days after your subscription installation date. The service providers provides coverage for the repair or replacement of components of the interior plumbing system that fail due to normal wear tear. An Interior plumbing system consist of the water service and vents lines within the interior limits of Your residence. Coverage includes water leaks and breaks, interior hose bibs, angle stops, risers, shower/tub valves and waste and vent lines above the foundation of Your residents. 

About the Flo by Moen Smart Water Shutoff Installation

  • Where is the device installed?

    Flo by Moen Smart Water Shut-off is installed on the main water line coming into the home. For some, this may be outside and for others this may be in a basement, garage or crawl space. 

  • Can the device be installed on galvanized plumbing systems?

    Flo is compatible to be installed on all types of plumbing systems except for galvanized plumbing. We do not recommend having this device installed on galvanized systems. 

  • Can the device be installed on a well water system?

    Yes. Flo can be installed on well water systems, however you will need to talk to your plumber about installing a mesh strainer or appropriate filters on the water line before the installation of the device to prevent any sediment from making its way into the Flo Smart Water Shutoff. 

  • Does Flo require Wi-Fi?

    Yes. Flo by Moen will need to be connected to your homes Wi-Fi in order to communicate to the cloud and your Flo by Moen app. We recommend having your Wi-Fi Router or a Wi-Fi extender within 50ft of where your Flo Smart Water Shutoff is installed to ensure a solid connection. 

  • Who will be installing my Flo by Moen smart water shutoff device?

    After enrolling in the WaterShield by FPL Home program,  the licensed plumber named in your WaterShield by FPL Home program terms will contact you to schedule a time to install your Flo by Moen smart water shutoff device.

  • What do I need to do prior to the installation?

    Once your  device is installed the licensed plumber named in your WaterShield by FPL Home program term will prompt you to download the Flo by Moen App from the App Store or Google Play Store and setup your user account. You will be prompted to answer on-boarding questions and know your Wi-Fi password to pair your device to your home network. 

  • Where can I download the app to control my Flo by Moen smart water shutoff device?

    You can download the Flo by Moen App from the App Store or Google Play Store.
